Institute of Electric Mobility and Energy Storage Systems

Lecture Content

Energy consumption in Germany and Europe, but also in other parts of the world, has increased continuously over the past 20 years. For example, the power consumption of German industry increased by around 20% from 1993 to 2012. However, the rational use of energy will be essential in the future if the energy transition propagated by the federal government is to be successfully implemented. It is therefore necessary for companies and private individuals to use the available energy more efficiently and effectively for ecological reasons and, because of the increasing energy costs, also for economic reasons. The lecture Rationelle Energienutzung (rational use of energy) shows an overview of innovative approaches to energy saving and explains the underlying technical relationships. The lecture includes but is not limited to the following topics:

  •     Energy use in industry and commerce
  •     Energy contracting
  •     Technical building management
  •     Energy use in private households
  •     Energy use in transport and traffic systems
  •     Political instruments to increase energy efficiency
